  • 90% of the time the errors are going to be typos! check and recheck!

  • if Tivo seems to Freeze its probably an omission of a & in rc.sysinit (see above =P) or  incorrect boot parameter ( again typo!)

  • After a successful PPP connection the the Servers IP address should be 192.168.55.1 and TiVo's: 192.168.55.2

Man I just can't bash!

Well unfortunately this means your going to have to put the TiVo drive back into your computer, the most likely cause of this is simply a typo. As most of the other problems you might may have will be.

My Tivo doesn't connect:

Ok now this is going to be fun =P. First does the Dial-up Server answer then hangup? Check-out the modem log, make sure your getting CLIENTCLIENT if your getting junk this might be a speed problem try changing the Baud rate in ppp-options.cua3 and Windows to 57600 ( see General to get back to the bash prompt) If you happen to see bash in the modem log, it means either your boot parameters are  incorrect, or your if...then in rc.sysinit is incorrect. If this doesn't solve it setup a ppp log (on the advanced tab, of the dial-up Adapter proprieties, pic below) and try to figure out where its failing. Check out the TiVo logs too. ( see General). In addition you can run your rc.remote-login  from the Bash Prompt it will complain about the Serial port being in use but, it will also tell you of any other errors in your script.  If your Dial-up Server doesn't connect at all check and make sure your Null Modem is installed on the correct port, and all the cables are hooked up correctly and that the boot parameters are set.

setting ppp log

My TiVo isn't updating:

check your NAT software make sure its configured correctly, along with any Firewall software ( sometimes basic firewalls are setup in NAT packages ). Double check TClient-lib.itcl to make sure your modification was correct.
